Millard Jackson was born in Queens NYC, and started playing the piano at the age of 8 instructed by the church Organist, Mrs. Leona Higgs. She gave him a classical background. He went on to have various other instructors to gain an R&B and Jazz background. This would include some instructions at the Jazz Mobile in Harlem NY were Dizzy Gillespie and his band would rehearse. Notables such Lee Morgan, Richard Davis, Curtis Fuller and Jimmy Heath would teach the youngsters. Millard has worked with: Bobby Womack, Johnny Guitar Watson, Solomon Burke, Peabo Bryson, Jeffrey Osborne, Lenny Williams, K C & the Sunshine Band, Taste of Honey, Peaches & Herb, Thelma Houston, Little Anthony & the Imperials, & The Village People!! Just to name a few!! He has performed at many Venues in Las Vegas, like Gordon Biersch, Seven Seas Bar and Grill, and other famous Venues in Las Vegas, and now Millard Jackson and Coolmist Band has been performing at the WSO every Sunday at the Sunday Jazz Brunch.
